【ENG】[Close Reporting] Close-up coverage of Japanese dance group, TTT’s secret practice /NMIXX/O.O (DANCE PRACTICE)

About the New Project of this Website

Our coverage was basically completed online, but I went undercover to the mysterious Treasure Trove of Talents. (hereinafter referred to as TTT), which I introduced in our last article!

This time, I was particularly excited because I was involved in the process of selecting the members. I also had many questions, such as whether the acrobatic choreography around 2:12 would be able to match the movements, whether the girls’ feet would hurt, and so on.

We’ll be getting to know the attraction with photos, videos and information you can only see here!

Here is a summary for those who don’t have time.

  • Period: 2 days
  • Location: A studio in Tokyo
  • Practice music: NMIXX / O.O
  • Impression: High level. Beautiful.

Now let’s take a look at their charm, hard work, and talent!

Close Reporting

Day 1

This was the first time they had all practiced together.

The practice start time was a time I could go after work. It helps me too.

I entered the room with trepidation, thinking that the schedule for the actual shooting was close and the atmosphere was quite tense. However, I was reassured by the warm welcome I received that blew away my fears.

They danced and danced and danced, banging their knees against the ground so many times for the choreography that it was exhausting for me to watch! The dancers said that their knees were hurting, but they were dancing lively and I felt their mental and physical toughness.

*The mask was removed only at the time of the shooting.

↑Practice on the first day. They danced in front of the mirror and made many corrections.

↑Even in the practice stage, facial expressions and body movements were highly perfected.

↑The choreography they all wanted to have together also became more and more consistent during practice.

While watching the practice here and talking with TTT, I heard of their secret practice method that maximizes effectiveness in a short period of time. The details are confidential, so I cannot share them with you here, but TTT was using a very rational approach to management, scheduling, and so on.

I was impressed to see the quality of the work being polished with each session in the hour or so that I spent watching it.

Especially in the swing (1:56), where movement as a whole is key, the members talked to each other and made numerous corrections in terms of detailed movement, facial direction, eye line, and so on.

↑Members are working on the swing part of the choreography. They seem to be having a lot of fun.

At the end of the practice, it was already in a state of completion. Tomorrow they were scheduled to practice again. I didn’t know if they needed to practice any more, but I continued the coverage the next day!

Day 2

On this day, practice began at just the right time after work.

Please watch the Dance Practice video taken on the second day here.

*The mask was removed only at the time of the shooting.

And here is a video of an extra angle that I quietly shot from the side or back so as not to disturb the main camera. This is a limited version of the video that can only be seen here, so be sure to check it out as well!

Well, that’s cool. Even the studio background and the costumes are close to NMIXX themselves.

Now, comparing a quick glance at the TikTok video below, can you tell which one is real NMIXX?

If you are looking at it on your smart phone, it is no longer possible to tell which one is real NMIXX.

And they are danced well, including some acrobatic moves from 2:12 on that seem difficult to replicate!

The following are some of the great points that I have found while watching the practice up close.

  • Each member’s choreography is almost complete before the joint practice.
  • The whole group is also beautifully formed after only a few times of matching. The entire group danced through the dance repeatedly, making corrections and improving the overall quality of the dance.
  • In addition to the fine-tuning by TTT and among the members, each member checks the practice videos and makes corrections based on their own judgment. Therefore, the speed of brush-up is unbelievable! I was particularly surprised at the quality of the first day’s practice, as it improved more and more with each session.
  • Everyone’s concentration was high and their enthusiasm to finish in a short time was amazing. They danced incessantly with breaks in between.
  • The facial expressions were thoroughly developed from practice while dancing.
  • Good organizational management.

In particular, the process of discovering the movements to be corrected by comparing videos and actually reflecting them in your own body movements is, as experienced people well understand, seemingly obvious but not easy to do well.

As the famous Japanese comedian and athlete Sou Takei often mentions, moving your body the way you want it to move is a very important ability in sports. ⇒Reference YouTube Video

I spent more time playing ball games and martial arts than dancing, and I look back and think that is exactly what I was doing.

Through this interview, I thought that TTT members must all be highly capable of this kind of work.

Now let’s take a look at some pics to see how the practice went!

↑After arriving at the studio, I also helped set up for a bit. The cloth made it possible for them to edit NMIXX’s Dance Practice video for better reproduction; please check again TTT’s earlier video.

↑After each dance, everyone gathers to check the video and make minor corrections.

↑AONO was adjusting everyone’s standing position. The members were also talking to each other and constantly improving as they went along.

Practice and filming were conducted in a very friendly and cheerful atmosphere, and I could clearly see that everyone was enjoying the challenge of filming.

↑From left to right, MANAKA, REI, MOMOKA, YUNA, and MOYASHI!
They gathered at the moment I called out to them. I was overwhelmed with charm x 5.

↑Next is eico. She was so nice I almost broke the lens of my camera. I had actually seen eico on Youtube a few years ago when she was a member of a popular pop idol group in Japan named OS☆U, so it was an honor to be able to work with her for this shoot.

↑Lastly, AONO, who was in the middle of cleaning up the set-up, looked as cool as the cover of a magazine. She was always leading the team!

A few days after this practice, the same members were scheduled to shoot K-POP IN PUBLIC at Tokyo Station and Shinjuku.

I urge everyone to take a look at the video when it’s released!

I found out when I visited the shoot that not only are they good dancers and visually outstanding, but they are also attractive from a human standpoint. I thought this made for smooth practice and a good atmosphere among the members.

I finished the interview with a sense of admiration for TTT’s ability to find talent, and with the feeling that this is a team I would like to support wholeheartedly.

I hope many people will see them and support them.

My Thoughts after this Interview

Through this interview, I realized anew the importance of dancing for fun.

Both the dancers and TTT looked like they were having fun, so I enjoyed just watching them.

I think it shows in the video.

For dancers, I guess they are concerned about whether they dance well or not, but I thought that “having fun” is the only thing that can be done in cover dancing and copy dancing, depending on their own mindset and how they relates to others.

I’ve also decided to be careful when I work with a team on my job.

  • Chasing results but not forgetting to have fun
  • Manners and enjoyment

I gained this kind of awareness from TTT dancers. Thank you very much.

K-POP IN PUBLIC VIDEO is now available !!

After all these efforts, today the K-POP IN PUBLIC video was released!

The great dancing, the costume recreations, the locations, the video editing techniques, all work in synergy to make this a great video!

It was a particularly hot day for this shoot, and I thank everyone for their hard work on the shoot.

I’d need about three more pages to try to explain how good this video is, so I’ll let you all see and feel it for yourselves!
